Drawings, Drawings: Red Sox Nation!

Hi there, been a while hasn't it?
Spring Training is here, and I can't get enough of all these new interviews n stuff pouring out!!! I'll write a bit more about that later, but meanwhile, here's another drawing....not a player, but a member of RSN, no doubt...I did a portrait of the son of SoSHer shoebox91, and here it is!

Isn't he adorable?? :D

Drawings, Drawings: Schilling

Hullo, here's one of Curt that I did.....It would be cool if he'd actually come and see it someday. I wonder if he'd like it. (actually, it wouldn't be too good if he did see it and he hated it...hope that won't be the case! :D)

Anyways, here he is. I dunno, it kinda looks like him, doesn't it? Oh well......leave comments please! :D

I got Johnny and Big Papi coming up, dunno when I'll finish them though....school work is defintely starting to build up. By the way, please excuse that watermark running across his face, but you know how things are; I've been burnt before, don't want it to happen again....so it's my futile attempt to prevent certain things this time. If you by any chance want a better quality image, let me know!

Drawings, Drawings: Varitek

Since I like to slack off and do things I'm not supposed to, I decided to try drawing my version of the 2005 Red Sox one by one whenever I feel like it.....they're not perfect, but I hope you like 'em. If you'd like to show someone or such, please leave comments, or email me and lemme know! Don't forget to credit it to me. Thanks! :-)

So here you are, our new captain; Jason Varitek. (he looks a bit chubby, but...oh well)

Two Championships!!!

Wow. The Patriots are just amazing.....and Belichick is unbelievable. I did miss a whole chunk of the game trying to buy art supplies in LA, but I did catch the end part, and I got to see Belichick and his Dad get ice-showered by Bruschi. Really very quiet around here, I wish I was back in New England being noisy.

The year is off to another good start. It's your turn, Red Sox!! World Series 2005 is about..8 months away now? Can't wait...

Chips, Beer, Fried chicken.......and the Game

I really am not a football fan, I don't even know the rules too well, but it's hard not to get excited when it's time for Super Bowl....well, actually that was when I was surrounded by New Englanders and college jocks and such. Now, I seem to be the only one excited around here, as usual. I'm just looking forward to sitting around and munching in front of the TV. It's a good excuse to not work during that time, too. Too bad Tom Brady is a fan of Jeter, but who cares, more than 85% of the people say Boston is a baseball town.

But still......Go Pats!!

Just 2 Weeks till Spring Training...

I can indure this lack of Red Sox news for two weeks....Spring Training is coming up in just a couple weeks, and during that time I'll be in a "Imma-gonna-work-hard" mode. I wonder how Curt's ankle is doing? I saw him in the celebrity poker thing last week - which was an annoying display of Everybody Loves Raymond cast members competing to see who can be funnier - he didn't look too good there. But I think that was probably filmed quite a while ago so I shouldn't judge from that. Personally, I'd rather see him be a few weeks late and be in top shape for the rest of the season than rush him to pitch opening day. But, my opinion on this is really not a factor at all and they have doctors and all who'll be the judge of that....In any case, I hope every Red Sox will be healthy this year!!

Meanwhile, here's a photo I took on May 8th, after Curt's first complete game against the Royals. That was a good day; great weather, great pitching, and that inside-the-park-homer by Pokey....Pokey's gone, so is Petey and everyone else....kinda makes me sad.

(ignore the guy in the foreground....wish he hadn't been walking right there)

Tickets.??....You Wish.

In a vain attempt to satisfy myself, I registered for the "Red Sox Nation Member Special - Buy Your Tickets a Day Early" thingamajig. Well, it was really great to get selected for that "exclusive" offer, but sharing it with hundreds of other "exclusive" people was just....well, really swell. On top of that, I had to face the harsh reality that I couldn't afford either the time or the money to go all the way to Fenway from LA this year, so I just watched the hours pass away wishing I could join all those other fellow RSN ppl in the Virtual Waiting Room. Oh well, who knows, I might somehow find a way to go. I swear to someday be living back in New England with season tickets in my hands every year.

Instead, I announce my alternate baseball plans for 2005 -

Go watch the Red Sox at Anaheim 8/18 ~ 8/21
Go visit my sister in Chicago in June, watch the Red Sox at ChiCubs 6/10 ~ 12 (yeah, right, I can sooo get these tickets)
Go watch DLowe and Dougie play at a Mets at LA Dodgers game 8/12 ~ 8/14
Go watch....err...a Red Sox World Series game, if it should ever happen at Dodger Stadium

Good luck to me on scoring those tickets....

Fairwell, Dougie??

Okay..

So Delgado's gone to the Marlins, and supposedly we're sending Doug Mientkiewicz off to the Mets for a guy called Ian Bladergroen. (The link is here...umm, bladder-groin?? err, I'm sure that's not how you read it.....) I am NOT too happy about this. I just loved watching Dougie play first base, he's one of the people who made me really look forward to watching defensive highlights much more than all those HR's and K's etc. I really hope that the whole "Ballgate" thing has nothing to do with this, and I hope Dougie doesn't leave with any hard feelings. Sure, Millar hits more home runs and whatever, I don't know what's best for the team.....oh well, I'll put my trust in Theo once more. Red Sox are really shipping off that 2004 team, aren't they? What percent of it is actually left? The home opener and banner/ring ceremony will be pretty sad.....I couldn't wait to see it happen with the never-ending standing O, and the big smiles on the face of the players, but now I'm not sure it'll be nearly as great.

Ahh...Dougie, you will be sorely missed (by me, at least). You were part of our 2004 World Series Champion team, and I'll never forget those dives, stretches and splits at first base. I hope you have a much better season in 2005 at Shea, say hi to Petey for us.

Oh, and I say...hold on to that ball, man. This ball issue is getting dumber by the day. I hope it'll be seen in the HoF some day, though. You'll do that, won't you?

Tickets! Tickets!!!

Red Sox Tickets are going on sale through the phone and internet on January 29th, Saturday at 10am EST. that's 7am here.....arrrgh. At this point, I don't even know if going to Boston is realistic for me, so I'm just going to sulk here and try to find out when Anaheim is gonna start selling tickets.

Oh, and did I mention that ARod(aka Slappy) is the biggest whiner I have ever seen? Talk about being stupid and bitter. And it took him 3 months to get over that loss and try to make something out of it. Boy, if you've got time to whine like that, why don't u just go shovel some snow at Yankee Stadium or something.

Whose Ball is it??

This baseball talk is just the stupidest thing ever. It must be January, huh.

I hope this isn't some ploy to get fans to not like Dougie, cuz I love watching him play first base. Why did he talk to CHB in the first place??? Well, he's learned his lesson on that, I suppose. I don't know who's gonna be our starting first baseman for 2005 (although I'm somewhat more partial to Dougie than Millar.......who knows? it could be someone completely new) but I hope this isn't something that'll influence the decision or the club chemistry.

Talking of club chemistry, I think it's probably gonna be pretty different, anyway. especially the three new SP we have. Hmmm....

Here we go......2005

Here it is. I've finally started it. Being in an art school in California, rather than driving myself crazy trying to get ppl around me interested I've decided to settle for this. A Red Sox Blog, where I'll ramble on about the team, the games, and everything Red Sox (maybe other MLB stuff too, if it's interesting enough). I'm no expert on baseball stats, history or trivia, but I absolutely love the Red Sox and I reckon that'll give me enough to talk about.

As a Red Sox fan, I watch every single game(mostly thanks to MLB.tv since I'm no longer within driving distance to Fenway), and 2004 has made me a very, very, happy person. But it's already been a while since October 27, 2004 and now we're already quite a different team. Pedro, DLowe, and OC are gone, we've got quite a different rotation now, and our bench is quite unrecognizable. Yankees are getting Randy Johnson, but I think we'll manage just fine. The most we'll ever see him in the regular season is what, 5 times or so? I think our 2005 team looks pretty good so far, I'll still enjoy highlights from October in the meantime.

2005 is here. Do it again, Red Sox!!!
